PUBLIC LAW 98-474 REQUIRES
MANUFACTURERS, PACKAGERS, AND IMPORTERS OF CIGARETTES TO ANNUALLY
PROVDE THE SECRETAR WITH A LIST OF INGREDIENTS ADDED TO TOBACCO IN
THE MANUFACTURE OF CIGARETTES. TO COMPLY WITH THIS LEGISLATION,
MANUFACTURERS, PACKAGERS AND IMPORTERS WILL BE ASKED TO SUBMIT THE
INGREDIENTS BY COMMON NAME, CHEMICAL NAME, AND CHEMICAL ABSTRACT
NUMBER. IT IS ESTIMATED THAT 15-20 COMPANIES ARE AFFECTED BY THIS
MANDATE.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
The following is a summary of the topics, regarding
the proposed collection of information, that the certification
covers:
