Clearance is
provided subject to the following conditions: 1) HHS provides a
more detailed financial plan for NHANES III, and 2) upon conclusion
of the pilot study HHS should assess whether b) There is a need for
a follow-up question to B43 as to what kitchen facilities are
missing, c) Parental responses to K26-30 are biased, and d) It
would be more useful to ask respondents about their Familiarity
with keyboards similar to the one used in the assessment of the
central nervous system, and e) the age of the dwelling in which the
respondents live is a good indicator of lead exposure.

NHANES III WILL MEASURE AND MONITOR
THE HEALTH AND NUTRITIONAL STATUS OF THE U.S. AS A SIX-YEAR SURVEY
INVOLVING 60000 PARTICIPANTS AGES TWO MONTHS AND OLDER. PILOT
TESTING IS NECESSARY TO EVALUATE AND REFINE QUESTIONNAIRE DESIGN,
SAMPLING, TRAINING, AND EXAMINATION PROCEDURES, EQUIPMENT,
AUTOMATION, AND OUTREACH EFFORTS.
