IMPROVING STRATEGIES FOR ENSURING THAT
HEAD START CHILDREN ARE PLACED APPROPRIATELY AND ADJUST
SATISFACTORILY IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IS A PRIORITY FOR THE OFFICE OF
HUMAN DEVELOPMENT SERVICES. THIS STUDY DOCUMENTS CURRENT TRANSITION
EFFORTS OF 144 HEAD START PROGRAMS. RESPONDENTS ARE HEAD START
DIRECTORS AND PARENTS, AND ELEMENTARY SCHOO PRINCIPALS AND
TEACHERS.
