Abstract: THE INFORMATION REQUESTED FROM VOLUNTARY STANDARDS DEVELOPERS IS OUTLINED IN 21 CFR 861 WHICH IMPLEMENTS SECTION 514 "PERFORMANCE STANDARDS" OF THE FOOD, DRUG & COSMETIC ACT. THE RECEIPT AND EVALUATION OF THIS INFORMATION PERMITS THE AGENCY TO ENSURE THAT THE PROPOSED STANDARD PROVIDES REASONABLE ASSURANCE OF THE SAFETY AND EFFECTIVENESS OF THE DEVICE.
