Abstract: THE OBJECT IS TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT BETA-BLOCKERS PROLONG LIFE AFTER HEART ATTACK. THE BETA-BLOCKER HEART ATTACK TRIAL IS A MULTI-CENTERED, RANDOMIZED PLACEBO CONTROLLED, DOUBLE-BLIND CLINICAL TRIAL DESIGNED TO ANSWER THE ABOVE STATEMENT. IF POSITIVE, IT WILL HAVE MAJOR PUBLIC-HEALTH IMPACT IN SURVIVORS OF HEART ATTACKS.
